SCORE Family,
My name is Joel Cotes, and I serve with my family at the SCORE International ministry in the Dominican Republic. The Lord led me into missions through my desire to work with young people and use sports as a way to share the gospel. Over time, God made it clear that He was calling me not just to coach or mentor, but to walk alongside youth, disciple them, and point them to Christ in their everyday lives.
Serving with SCORE has allowed me to invest in young people through mentoring, outreach, and especially through the baseball team God has allowed me to lead. Through practices, games, and time spent together, we build relationships that open the door to share about Christ and help these young men grow both spiritually and personally. It’s been encouraging to watch many of them begin to understand their identity in Christ and the purpose God has for their lives.
The Lord has been faithful to our family during this season of ministry. We continue to see open doors to invest in youth and share the gospel in practical ways. We are also preparing for a special moment in our family, as my wife is expecting our second child, Naara, who is due on April 9. We are grateful for God’s provision and care during this time.
Please pray for continued opportunities to disciple young people, for wisdom and strength as we serve, and for God to prepare hearts to receive His Word. We would also greatly appreciate prayer for my wife as she approaches delivery, and for a healthy birth for baby Naara.
