Josiah’s House

Josiah’s House is a children’s home located in San Pedro de Macoris. The complex currently has 2 girls homes and 2 boys homes housing a total of 29 children. In each home, the 8 children and one Christian married couple live and grow in a family setting. There is now an additional campus that houses young adults who have aged out of Josiah’s House called Hope Continues, this gives these young people the opportunity to finish their high school education and go on to college. Josiah’s House is the extended heartbeat of Grace Chapel in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee, and is named in honor of Josiah Berger, the son of Grace Chapel’s Founding Pastor Steve Berger and his wife, Sarah. Josiah unexpectedly went to Heaven in 2009 at the age of 19 and is now more alive than ever! Josiah Berger’s love for missions and his enthusiasm for life continue to inspire those desiring to pour hope into the lives of these amazing boys. Pastor Steve Berger, has worked in the Dominican Republic for several years through the SCORE baseball/evangelism ministry. As a result, orphanage construction leaders felt led to name the home Josiah’s House in his memory. Just weeks after Josiah’s passing, they presented the idea to the Berger’s who tearfully and joyfully accepted the gift in honor of their son.
