SCORE Family,
God Called Matias into missions through a journey marked by hardship, grace, and growth. After battling childhood cancer, the Lord saved him, physically and spiritually. God prepared Matias for ministry through serving in his home church in Uruguay, serving as an intern with SCORE in the Dominican Republic, and being ordained as a pastor in WNY. He received his Master’s in pastoral ministry and is attending Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for his Master’s in Divinity.
After Bethany’s first mission trip with SCORE International to the Dominican Republic, she attended the GAP program in Costa Rica, where God called her to the mission field. She later returned to the Dominican Republic to serve as an intern and eventually became a full-time missionary.
After getting married, the Acevedos served together with SCORE International in the Dominican Republic, followed by eight years of ministry in Western New York. In 2019, God called their family to move to Uruguay to share the Gospel in Matias’ home country.
Uruguay is considered one of the most secular countries in Latin America, and there is a great need for the Gospel. God has led the Acevedos to serve through the revitalization of a small church, discipleship, youth ministry, drug rehabilitation ministry, teaching at a Bible institute, and leading an annual biblical counseling conference.
Please pray for the hearts of the people we encounter—that they would come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Pray for spiritual growth, for the Gospel to spread throughout Uruguay, and for strength and wisdom for our family, our marriage, and our children.
