Dominican Republic

Julia took her first trip to the Dominican Republic in January of 2016 with her high school. Through that trip the Lord started working on her heart and calling her to missions. When she returned from that trip she applied for SCORE’s GAP year program, got accepted and prepared to move to the Dominican for 9 months. During this time although Guiberson and Julia had not met yet, the Lord was already orchestrating their lives together. Through the baseball ministry of the Juan Dolio church God saved Guiberson and started to transform his life and grow him. Julia moved down to the DR in August of 2016 and the ways that the Lord grew and changed and moved in Julia’s heart was LIFE CHANGING. She then had the opportunity to serve through 2 different internships. One solely focused on starting a volleyball ministry.

Then… COVID and life, borders, and everything shut down. At this point Julia was back in the states after just finishing her 6-month volleyball internship. She was raising support and starting all the preparation to move to the DR full-time. After 8 months of patiently waiting and preparing, in October 2020 Julia moved to the Dominican Republic as a full time missionary. She and Guiberson later got engaged and were married on October 15, 2021. With so many changes and pandemics, ministry looks a lot different than what it did in 2016, BUT GOD! He has been so good to Guiberson and Julia to bless them to be able to work with and in the local church, Iglesia Bautista Misionera de Juan Dolio. Julia continues in volleyball ministry in various surrounding areas and Guiberson has taken over the baseball ministry in the church. Together they serve the youth in the church and are hoping to see some extreme growth in the Youth Group. Although ministry can be difficult, we continue to remember a verse that always encourages us.

Acts 24:20 “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of ethe grace of God.”
