Christy Rogers
Christy was born and raised in Northern California in a secular household filled with abuse and neglect. In her teens years she found that sports were a way to relieve the stressors of living in an abusive family-setting; thereby becoming an avid snow skier and softball player. At first she participated in sports as a means to stay away from the abuse at home, but later found she enjoyed the comradery of being part of a team and even thrived in her schoolwork.
It was during her time in college that she first became interested in law enforcement, whereby she served for 30 years, graduating from the FBI National Academy, and retiring as a lieutenant with the California Highway Patrol. During this time, Christy fostered two sisters which she later adopted, the youngest of which is now a mother of her own!
Upon retirement she left the hustle of California and sought to find the answers to the deeper questions she had about the purpose of life. It was then that she found the answer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At the age of 55, she became a Born-Again believer, and as she read the Bible, all the why’s of life started to make perfect sense. Her favorite verse is Colossians 1:10, “Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work, while increasing in your knowledge of God.”
The years since have been a catch-up for her, getting her BA in Christian Ministry, CPE Certification in Chaplaincy, and serving as a skilled laborer for nationwide disaster relief projects. In addition, she helped start a transitional home for women released prison in Oklahoma, and coach youth basketball and volleyball for the local YMCA, and middle and high school girls’ basketball for the local Christian school where she is also a substitute teacher.
Christy sees the Lord’s handiwork in bringing her skills and knowledge to use in the mission work of Score International and is thrilled to be an Ambassador to them as God continues to use her for His Glory and is currently assisting Score International Missionary Becky Hale with the Hope Well House in Rapid City.
