Butch & Valerie Johnson

Butch and Valerie Johnson have been married for almost 18 years. Butch graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Business Horticulture. After graduation he took
over the family greenhouse/florist business and then continued to have a long career in the golf course industry. Valerie has held a variety of titles throughout her life working in advertising, customer service, and ministry at Pass Pregnancy Care Center where she was the director of the abstinence program for students throughout the Chicagoland area but her favorite title has been Mom.
In 2007, Butch and Val met and married and began to serve together in their church through Awana, small groups, and men’s and women’s ministries. In 2008 they welcomed Stephen into their family and in 2010 Benjamin completed them.
In 2020, after Val’s older children were grown and out on their own, they decided to move to Florida to be closer to Valerie’s parents. In the midst of the pandemic they quickly became involved in an amazing church, Fellowship Church of Fishhawk, where God has done His most amazing work through them. Butch became involved in the Awana program and men’s ministry as well as began volunteering at church. This would lead to a full time position where he now is the Facilities Coordinator. Valerie was part of the new women’s ministry that was being developed and oversaw the needs of church families who needed meals prepared for various reasons along with organizing and preparations for memorial services within the church and community. She also helped with nursery care for the littles during Bible study groups for young moms. In 2023 Valerie accepted the position as Missions Assistant to the Missions Pastor where she helped organize local events as well as coordinated and planned a variety of missions trips nationally and internationally.
Together Butch and Val have created Beautiful Feet, a ministry that reaches and serves the homeless community in the Tampa area. Through donations and the help of volunteers they pack love bags with hygiene items, non-perishable food, water, and other items and pass them out to our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate. This has grown to collecting clothes, blankets, shoes, and even providing meals at times. Since it’s inception Beautiful Feet has provided over 3,000 love bags and shared the Gospel Message with about 2,500 people.
In 2022 Valerie went on her first mission trip to Uganda where life for her was forever changed. She served alongside God is Grace Women’s Ministry and returned in 2023, this time for a month where she was blessed to be able to visit several prisons, men and women’s, and share God’s story throughout her life with them. Butch and their youngest son Ben went on their first trip in 2024 to Hildale, Utah where life truly threw them a curveball.
Butch and Ben fell in love with the town but especially the community they were serving. This led to a return trip this time with all three Johnson men and when they returned God certainly had a plan. After much prayer and discussion Butch and Valerie along with their sons have accepted the call to move to Hildale, Utah to serve full time as Score missionaries. It is our hearts desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus to a community devastated by and through religion. We look forward to what and where our Savior will lead us and getting to know the beautiful people of Hildale.
