I was raised in Huntington, WV where I had the blessing of being raised in a Christian home. It was during Sunday school as a young child that I accepted the Lord into my heart and was baptized a few months later. Over the years my family enjoyed hosting many missionaries in our home. Thru many conversations around our kitchen table and in our living room with the missionaries, I learned that as a teen I could go on a mission trip and took my first one, of many, at the age of 15 to Barbados. It was on this trip that I first began to pray about becoming a missionary full time. The short term trips I took over the years in high school had a lasting impact on my life and at 19 I surrendered my life to full time missions work.
As a young adult I attended Tennessee Temple University, graduating in 2004 with a BS in Psychology and minor in Bible. I wish I could tell you that I went immediately into what I knew God had called me to do, but that isn’t the case. After decades of accepting one job and then another I finally realized that I was working 7 days a week and years had slipped by, almost two decades, since that trip where the Lord confirmed my call to missions. I had not meant to be disobedient but I had let “busy” takeover. I am so thankful that I can say that our Heavenly Father is so patient. He pursues us, He waits, and sometimes He chastises but He never fails. I’ve heard my whole life about the Shepard that will leave the 99 to get the 1 and that may seem silly in our own thought process, that is until you are the 1.
In August of 2018, at a Bible study I heard for the first time about the needs on The Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Over the next few weeks the Lord confirmed in prayer that He was calling me to South Dakota to work with the Lakota people. The economical, educational and physical needs of the Lakota are many, but there is no greater need than their need to hear about the Lord. Please pray for the Lord to use me as His vessel on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
