I grew up in a Christian home in Delaware/Maryland and attended a Christian high school. In my senior year, we went on a missions trip to the Dominican Republic for 1 week. In this time like many other I felt the Lord drawing me to the country and decided to apply for the GAP year program. I was accepted and lived/ did ministry for the 9 month long program. In that time once again I felt the Lord calling me to spend more time in the country. 6 months later I was on my way back to the country for a 5 month internship. I was originally working with teams and being used as a translator when needed about a month before the internship was supposed to be finished the Lord had gotten a hold of my heart and felt I should extend my internship and focus on discerning what this calling to the Dominican meant. My internship ended up being 10 months long where through Gods amazing plan He opened my heart for the girls in the country and the idea to start a volleyball program. I did not know what that meant or what it would even look like since a girls ministry does not exist. The second half of my extended internship was spent looking into and even working a little with girls and volleyball and youth in the area. Returning from that internship through much prayer and counsel, I applied to be a full time missionary. Part of the process for me specifically was another 6 month internship in the Dominican Republic to build a foundation and see what a full time ministry like this would look like. And wow did the Lord open so many amazing doors and opportunities to work with girls and youth using volleyball and discipleship.
As of 2020, I will be using volleyball to reach the girls in the surrounding cities with the gospel and discipleship in obedience to The Great Commission. As well as, serving in the local church and with youth. Also i will be charge of the ground operations for New Hope Ministries. An educational program for baseball players from the church. I am overjoyed and humbled at the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus and use the passion God gave me for missions, volleyball, girls, and youth.
