Missionary, Lily House
I was born and raised in Oxford, MI and began attending Seymour Lake United Methodist Church when I was four years old. During a summer camp I attended when I was 11, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior. God first softened my heart for missions when I was 13 years old through exposure from my church, youth rallies, and a Christian magazine for teen girls. In 2005 at age 14, I joined Brio magazine on their annual mission trip to Panama. That trip was my first taste of international missions and affirmed God’s calling for my life as a missionary.
I continued to be involved with church, youth group, stateside mission trips, and counseling at summer camp during high school, but fearful of what following God’s call would look like, I started making my own plans for college and careers. However, God remained faithful and continued to pursue me. After transferring to Michigan State University in my sophomore year of college, I became involved with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) and was again exposed to God’s heart for the nations. During a Christmas Conference with Cru my junior year of college, after much softening of my heart, I committed my first year after college graduation to do mission work.
In August of 2013, after graduating with a degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, I went to the Dominican Republic for the first time for what would end up becoming a 9 month internship with SCORE at Lily House. Through working hand-in-hand with the ministry, I once again felt God softening my heart to the call of full-time missions. After re-surrendering to God’s plans for my life, He confirmed Lily House and the DR as where He desired me to serve. I will be serving with SCORE at Lily House in the role of “House Mom” while also becoming involved with the local church and other SCORE ministries. I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to do God’s Kingdom Work and use the passion He has given me for missions and for women!
