Keith was born and grew up around Kalamazoo, Michigan and holds a B.S. and M.A. degree from Western Michigan University. He has coached both in public and Christian schools for over 40 years. 24 of those years have been at the Christian college level and is currently on the basketball coaching staff at Bob Jones University. In 2011, he was inducted into the NCCAA Hall of Fame. He also spent 6 years as the Assistant Director of the National Association of Christian Athletes.
Together with his wife, Judy, they have over 40 years of experience in Christian ministry. Judy has been an elementary principal, teacher, and a college Dean of Women. Together, they have a heart for ministry and impacting young people for Christ. They both enjoy camping, canoeing, biking, and being with family.
They have six children; four sons and two daughters. Recently, they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.
In addition to his coaching, Keith has conducted over 65 basketball camps in 16 states, has written a weekly sports column for a Minnesota newspaper, has appeared as a speaker at numerous school conventions, churches, chapels, and banquets, and remains active in his local church ministry. His favorite verse is Psalm 34:8, “O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusteth in Him.”
Keith’s desire is to continue to use athletics as a platform to share the Gospel and to challenge young people in the area of full-time ministry.
